Travelers planning to explore Atlantic Canada, should consider staying at this luxury B&B or oceanfront golf property from Authentic Seacoast Resorts.

With one of these intimate properties as home base, visitors can experience all that the rugged coast of eastern Nova Scotia has to offer – from its scenic shoreline dotted with secluded beaches and coves, to historic sites representing the area's rich seafaring past to some of the most delicious, freshest seafood on the planet!

DesBarres Manor Inn Features Fabulous Amenities

This luxury bed and breakfast is the former 19th-century home for one of Nova Scotia's Supreme Court justices. It sits on a hill above Guysborough Harbour. Ten uniquely decorated guest rooms feature two double, one queen or one king-sized bed, and are filled with antiques and original art.

The services and amenities included in the room rate are top-notch: complimentary gourmet breakfast, afternoon tea service, high-speed wireless Internet access and evening guest reception. Other highlights of the rooms include spa toiletries, use of waffle-weave robes and 600-thread-count sheets.

DesBarres Manor Inn's restaurant won the 2008 Nova Scotia Cuisine of the Year. And it's no wonder: gourmet menu items include dishes like Grilled Halibut Stuffed with Fennel and Pine Nuts, Pan Seared Sea Scallops with Lime Cilantro Slaw and Sweet Potato Soup with Nova Scotia Maple Syrup and Garlic Chives. Guests dine indoors by the fireplace or outdoors on the Grand Deck.

In May and June Chef Shaun Zwarun celebrates lobster season with lobster cooking classes for guests. In fact, visitors can book the Chedabucto Bay Lobster Festival Package, which includes a cooking class, three-course seafood dinner, a morning trip to the fishing wharf with Chef Zwarun to select lobster for that night's lobster feast, which you also enjoy. This two-night package starts at $305 (Canadian) a person.

Affordable Osprey Shores Golf Resort Has Motel-Style Lodging

Sister property Osprey Shores Golf Resort is nestled on a peninsula between two coves at the head of the Atlantic Coast's largest bay, Chedabucto Bay. The ten comfortable rooms here feature queen beds with 280-thread-count sheets and hypoallergenic duvets, front porches overlooking Mussel Cove, flat-screen TVs, use of waffle-weave robes and coffeemakers. Five rooms have an additional single bed.

An outdoor swimming pool (also available for DesBarres Manor Inn guests) and a nine-hole golf course featuring amazing ocean views are two welcome amenities on-site. Osprey Shores Golf Resort is also a pet-friendly resort. Small- to medium-sized dogs are welcomed with a souvenir bandana and special treats. They have use of dishes and a doggie day bed in your room during your stay. Rates in the high season, July 1 through September 30, start at $129/night double occupancy.
